Sitting on a parcel of industrial land in a region hard hit by declining manufacturing in the Toronto area is a fairly nondescript industrial establishment. The facility is the former home of Stackpole Ltd's Pump Components Division, until they relocated in 2005 to a newer facility, and sold the property to Gates Canada Incorporated. The facility has sat idle since then, with the new owners not utilizing the facility.

Like many of the industrial establishments within Toronto, details are scarce online about the building and former inhabitants. Stackpole Ltd, who relocated to Ancaster after the sale of the building, manufactures components for automotive transmissions. In relation to this, a number of transmission component drawings were found within the facility. Gates Canada also appears to be involved with the automotive industry, however, their plans for the facility are not known.
Much like the abandoned Alcan Packaging plant not far from here, not much was left inside of the facility itself. Scrappers and vandals have been through, although surprisingly the scrappers did leave a fair amount of smaller gauge wiring intact while completely destroying a bunch of high-voltage raceways and completely emptying out the main breakers. The toilet paper decorations are also a nice touch.
This was actually my second visit to the plant; the first visit ended without success when my companions and I missed a rather blatant way in. And while it did a good job of burning an afternoon, I doubt I will find myself returning anytime soon as most of the plant has been emptied out.
Apparently every now and then I do happen to go and explore with other people. ;)
