Residences of Pier 27

Part of the first phase of reclaiming the mostly-derelict waterfront east of Yonge, Pier 27 is a unique take on buildings, with the precarious-appearing sky bridges connecting the buildings across their tops. Nestled in next to Redpath Sugar on one side, and the newly derelict Captain John's seafood on the other, Pier 27 quickly rose from the ground, and is now just starting to get the inner detailing done.

I can hear the comments already... more condos!? Since the demand for them hasn't died yet, combined with the fact that prices are steadily increasing, I don't see the new condo construction in Toronto slowing down anytime soon. While I can't say that I'm happy that another chunk of the waterfront has been claimed as private property, there isn't much that can be done to change that fact now.

I'm intrigued by how the skybridge is going to function, given that, unlike the rest of the building, it isn't built out of concrete but rather corrugated sheet metal and steel girder trusses. I assume that there will be more to it than that, but for now that's all that is sitting there.

Interior-wise, I didn't take any shots, as there wasn't a whole heck to look at other than empty concrete shells. Most of the utilities haven't even been run yet.

All in all, it was a good way to kill an evening and get back into the active UE scene, while providing a unique look at the city's skyline.
